TMInterface (TMI) is a public Trackmania TAS tool made by donadigo. Before TMI there was no publicly available TAS tool. TMI was programmed in C++ and then later on, added further support for plugins in AngelScript, which is also used for Openplanet in Trackmania (2020) and Maniaplanet.
History
TMI was started by donadigo around 2018, where it was initially just a simple idea, later on in 2019 donadigo made a blog post about TAS and Trackmania where he talks about TAS and its availability, since most TAS tools were privately owned and not shared, due to the risk of cheating since back then there was no cheat detection. People with these tools never uploaded these runs on the offical leaderboards, but rather posted them as videos on youtube to showcase their TAS runs.
In 2021 the Cheating Scandal happened, where it was noticed that a popular Trackmania streamer by the name of Riolu, had some suspicious inputs in his runs. This evolved to an investigation by Wirtual and donadigo, where they analysed top offical leaderboard player's runs, and mostly specifically Riolu's runs, because he had the most records uploaded to TMX out of all players.
The first version of TMI was version 1.0.0 which was released on the 30th of May 2021.
