When in the air, the player can tap brake to lock the car’s rotation (usually its pitch). This is known as an airbrake.
Airbraking is an extremely useful air control technique, the other being countersteering. For example, when dropping off a flat road, the car’s nose tends to dip downwards. A well-timed airbrake can preserve more speed upon landing.
It is not possible to airbrake in every environment - only Stadium, Island, Coast and Bay.
